Synopsis

He wants revenge, but he wants her more.

Once Upon A Time, there was a little boy.
His belly full of laughter, his life full of joy.
Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away.
The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play.
His dreams gone forever, he grew up way too fast.
An endless night of crocodiles, and watches made of glass.
He grew into a villain, the taste of vengeance on his tongue.
Craving to make his enemies pay for the misdeeds they had done.
Instead he found a darling girl, and refused to let her go.
For what better way to make the man pay, than to steal his little shadow.

Review

When I first came across Hooked, I was excited, but I wasn’t prepared for just how good this book would be.
Hooked is not a Peter Pan retelling. Rather characters names from Peter Pan are used, and there may be some similarities between those characters and the ones in Peter Pan. Hook and Peter being enemies is definitely a thing in this book. But to get to Peter, Hook goes after Peter’s daughter Wendy.

This book is full of some of my favorite tropes, age gap, mafia romance. And Hook is just about the soonest character. I liked Wendy, though I do admit I wish she had been a little smarter with it came to her father. I found that part to be a little unbelievable, honestly. But, on the other hand, I loved seeing the relationship between her and Hook. And oh man, do I now have a thing for Praise Kink.

The story was very well done, with lots of twists and turns, and though I did figure a few things out before they were revealed, I would in no way call this predictable. I thought this book was very well balanced between steam and story, which doesn’t always happen. I cannot wait to read Emily’s next book, Scarred!
