Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

24909347.jpgShort synopsis: Kids trying to themselves and everyone from an evil corporation.

Initial Thoughts: WOW! Great ending! But I agree with some of the “complaints” I read. Not super into Asha and Rhys and too much narrative.

Characters: 4 – I love the kids from Illuminae and Gemina, and thank goodness they were in this book cause I did NOT care at all about Asha and Rhys.  Ella is my favorite.

Writing: 4 – So I listened to this book, and while I own all 3 books in the series for me personally I would have a hard time reading them, but that doesn’t mean I don’t they are cool AF.  One thing I did notice in this installment is there was a little too much narrative, a little too much surveillance footage, for me.  I missed Ezra’s sweet sweet voice (I love you Johnathan McClain), however, if I had read it I might have liked that so…

Plot: 4 –  The plot was great.  It was very fast paced

Originality: 5 – Honestly, like nothing I have read before, you know except for the other two books in the series.

Predictability: 4 – Here’s the thing, I felt like this was one of those books where no one (except for the ones we know are alive) was safe.   I don’t feel like that happens enough and I really liked it.  It kept me on the edge of my seat for sure.

Romance: 4 –   I’m going to ignore the Asha/Rhys “romance” cause I didn’t care.  But the others including the sort of creepy one-sided one was great.

World Building: 5 – Excellent! This was a world I easily fell into.

Overall: 4

Satisfying ending, if you haven’t read/listened to this do it, I mean it now!
