Synopsis

Anna begrudgingly heads off to Paris to start her senior year leaving behind her best friend, a crush and her family.  She is expecting to hate everything about Paris until she meets Étienne St. Clair.

Anna and Étienne become fast friends and maybe more.  The only problem is Étienne has a girlfriend.

I just do not get the whole Étienne thing.  Like at all!

Review

So this was told from Anna’s perspective, and honestly that was probably a major reason I didn’t love it.  Anna definitely has a lot of the characteristics I hate in a YA protagonist.  She is incredibly whinny and somehow the world revolves around her.  And having to read her stream of consciousness got old rather quickly.

Étienne is also fairly annoying.  He seems like a great friend, but that’s it.  I mean if you think about it, he’s sort of an ass.

The story wasn’t that great.  I really didn’t need all that best friend drama, and the characters annoyed me so much that I really just didn’t care.

Bottom Line

I found this book to be mostly irritating, with no real redeemable qualities.

Overall: 2
