Title: Merciless
Series:
Series Number: 1

Synopsis

I should’ve known she would ruin me the moment I saw her.
Women like her are made to destroy men like me.
I couldn’t resist her though.
Given to me to start a war; I was too eager to accept.

But I didn’t know what she’d do to me. That she would change everything.
She sees through me in a way no one else ever has.
Her innocence and vulnerability make me weak for her and I hate it.
I know better than to give in to temptation.

A ruthless man doesn’t let a soul close to him.
A cold-hearted man doesn’t risk anything for anyone.
A powerful man with a beautiful woman at his mercy… he doesn’t fall for her.

Review

First of all, let me warn you that Merciless ends in a bit of a cliffhanger so have the next book ready. You can also read all four books in All He’ll Ever Be.  This was my first Willow Winters book and I am asking myself why didn’t I pick up her books sooner?

This book is DARK.  It is a mafia romance and the hero, Carter, kidnaps and basically tortures the heroine, Aria, so be aware of that before you pick this one up.  Given that though I can certainly see the romance blossoming.  This is told in alternating POVs and I have to say for a book like this I think it is important to be in the heads of these characters, especially Carter.  You could easily hate Carter for what he does while having his side of the story doesn’t necessarily excuse his actions, it does explain them.

While the main focus is on Aria and Carter, the story is being set up for some major twists and turns.  I’m very intrigued by the mafia war that is starting as well as learning more about Carter’s past. And yes, I’ve already started book two.
