Synopsis

When you’re good, nobody ever remembers. But when you’re bad, they can’t stop reminding you. I was labelled a rebel, a party girl, a nuisance, even a… never mind, you don’t need to know that.

That all changed when he gave me a label. I submitted to the nickname.
I am a Deviant. I revel in the dark, alongside him.

Forbidden. Against the rules. A bad idea.
We can’t stop ourselves from breaking the moral compass.

But the stranger is watching me. Every move, every breath, and every dream.
He’s there, waiting, biding his time. In the end, he will get me.

When secrets are spilled… Who will be the deviant then?

Review

I am a sucker for a forbidden romance.  Not all of them, but I can get behind some, like the student-teacher romance. What struck me about Deviant was that the romance’s forbidden aspect was not really a big deal. Or rather, the characters didn’t seem to think it was a big deal.

One thing about this book was the whole book. I felt like I was missing something.  Not missing something like part of the mystery, but like I was missing a prologue or something.  Since this was the first book in the series, I am assuming not, but it just seemed like I might be.

The story did move very quickly, and at least on Arabella’s part, it seemed like the feelings escalated quickly.

There was a dark aspect to this book that I enjoyed but wasn’t expecting.  Though I wish this too had been a little more fleshed out.  Overall, this was an interesting read that could have just used a bit more background information to get into the story.
