Books with the Best Mythology and Legends

Happy Friday the Thirteenth!  Today I want to share some books with you that I think have some of the best mythology and legends.  No surprise, that most of these are going to fantasy books.  But if you love good world-building and mythology then you should check out these books,

The Daevabad Trilogy

City of Brass

The final book in this trilogy comes out later this year and I am so excited.  But the first two books are wonderful and I highly recommend them.  There are Jin and all sorts of mythical creatures.

American Gods

American Gods

Neil Gaiman has a few books with awesome mythology but American Gods is one of the best.  If you are into audiobooks I highly recommend this one, it has a full cast.

Ink in the Blood

Ink in the Blood by Kim Smejkal

Ink in the Blood book had some amazing world-building and an interesting religion.  Those elements alone made me enjoy this book, but it also had a great story.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Laini Taylor is an amazing author!  She knows how to build a world with rich descriptions full of its own legends and mythology.  Some may complain she is too descriptive, but I loved this series.

The Wicked Deep

Book Cover The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

The Wicked Deep is still one of my favorite books and not just because it is so pretty!  It also has one of the best legends as a central plot point. If you haven’t read it yet you should.  It would be a great October read.

Nevernight Chronicles

Nevernight

Nevernight, Godsgrave, and Darkdawn are great books.  I’ll be honest Nevernight was my favorite of the three.  But the world-building and such well thought out mythology of these books are truly amazing.  I mean there is a goddess of murder! What more could you want?
