Happy Thanksgiving!!!  I hope you are enjoying learning about these bookish charities as much as I am.  Here are two more for you to donate too.

World Literacy Foundation

The World Literacy Foundation is a global not-for-profit organization working to lift young people out of poverty through the power of literacy. They believe that every child should be able to read and write so they can enjoy lifelong learning and empowerment. The World Literacy Foundation is committed to building strong partnerships, providing assistance to grassroots literacy organizations and maximizing our impact through innovative solutions that bring quality education materials to classrooms across the world.

How you can help:

Monetary donations are always welcome.  They also have a school program that your schools can sign up to be a part of.  For those you oh you younger readers they also have a youth ambassador program.

Reader to Reader

Reader to Reader, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to expanding literacy and learning opportunities for the nation’s most chronically underserved and vulnerable communities, including inner-city schools, Native American reservations, and poor rural towns.

Reader to Reader accomplishes this primarily through innovative literacy programs, book & computer donation programs, and the development of partnerships with school districts that extend the capacity of the education system to transform struggling students into joyful and engaged lifelong learners.

How you can help:

Reader to Reader has a program called WorldRead.  Its a network of student groups on high school and college campuses that raise awareness and funds for global literacy.  You can also donate books to one of the hundreds of schools listed on the website.  You can also mail books directly to Reader to Reader:
