Review

I have read and loved just about all of Kerstin Gier’s books, and Castle in the Clouds is no exception.  This book is just fun, it sort of has the innocence of a To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Sophie is not a sophisticated girl, she is really just an average seventeen-year-old girl, trying to figure out her future and waiting for her first kiss.

The story is entertaining and there is a mystery element.  But as with most of Gier’s book, the best part are the characters.  There was such a great cast of characters. Of course in a setting like a hotel that is to be expected.  The characters were all well fleshed out, and it was fun seeing them all interact. As I mentioned Shopie is just a normal girl, but she is truly a delight.

As I mentioned there was a mystery aspect of the story which made it fun.  It wasn’t a huge part of the story. But it did add something to the plot, making it a little more interesting. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
